Directional Drilling
Staal Irrigation & Contracting uses directional drilling applications to install all utilities from fiber optics and hydrolines to storm sewers and water mains. Applications include drilling under riverbeds, under busy highways, under train tracks and under urban areas that are congested with an abundance of existing utilities. Directional drilling is the safest and most cost efficient choice, as it leaves environments intact and results in very minimal disruption in busy urban areas and on roadways.
Hydrovac Excavation
Staal Irrigation & Contracting has two hydrovac units. A full service Vactor 2100 truck and a Vermeer V800 for more congested areas. Most common applications are utility daylighting, site cleanup, manhole maintenance, duct roddering and hydro pole installation. Both Staal Irrigation & Contracting units are equipped with Hotsy burners that have the ability to cut through frozen ground to extend production during the winter months.
Open Trenching & Vibratory Plowing
Staal Irrigation & Contracting has put in kilometers of duct and piping throughout Northwestern Ontario by means of open trenching and vibratory plowing.

We do anything from residential service calls and system installations to entire golf course and sports field irrigation design and installation. We also boast the ability to fuse all sizes of HDPE pipe for repair and installation.

Staal Irrigation & Contracting provides drainage solutions in several commercial applications; our most common being golf courses, cemeteries, and sports fields. Our recent projects include the Thunder Bay Country Club, Chapples Golf Course, Strathcona Golf Course and Mountain View Cemetery.
